Jonah is a provisionally licensed mental health counselor in New York. He has worked primarily with people experiencing substance misuse and at the intersection of substance use and mental health. He is passionate about helping people move closer to living the life they want — by aligning their values with their lived experience, deepening the relationships that make them feel most supported, and building habits that make day-to-day life feel more manageable.

He especially values supporting young adults, neurodivergent individuals, and people navigating recovery, identity development, and major life transitions — working with those who feel stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about who they are and how they want to live.

Therapeutic Approach and Modalities

Jonah's clinical approach emphasizes self-understanding, emotional awareness, and helping patients build lives that feel more aligned with their values and authentic sense of self. He aims to be both compassionate and direct — not the authority figure in the room, but someone who can hold patients accountable more honestly than their friends might. To him, so much of life, and so much of therapy, is about the quality of connections — and he puts everything he has into making sure patients feel as understood, supported, and fully seen as possible.

Unique to his work: Jonah takes an integrative approach that combines shorter-term, solution-focused, evidence-based interventions with deeper exploratory work aimed at fostering lasting insight and long-term change. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, he balances practical strategies for immediate concerns with collaborative work focused on underlying patterns, identity, relationships, and personal meaning.

Personal Note

I identify as neurodivergent, and this later-in-life diagnosis has changed my life and helped shape the trajectory of my clinical practice. Gaining clarity on my own neurodivergence was crucial for me — and I am interested in a person's diagnosis only to the degree that it affects their ability to show up in the world, have relationships, or experience life the way they want to.

As a born-and-bred New Yorker and a recovering "over-analyzer," I've grown a deep appreciation for both top-down and bottom-up ways of processing — something I try to bring into my understanding of how to best work with patients.

I believe that life will always come with difficulties and challenges, but sometimes we add to our own suffering unintentionally and don't know how to get out of our own way — that's where therapy comes in.
